Labor day is fast approaching signaling an end to the summer and a return to school for the children. One of the first assignments that the younger children will be asked to do will be to write a report about the things they did during the summer.
I can imagine that with the higher prices at the gas pumps more and more children will be writing about their summer staycations rather than exotic vacations. Many lower income families have opted to stay closer to home and do things around town instead of traveling across the country.
This year my family and I lounged mostly around the backyard or as I like to say, visited Porta Barkyarda. I cleaned up our pond and removed most of the pond scum. The scum was especially bad this year; take a look at the picture below to see what I mean. I planted some Bulrush and hung some patio lanterns around the home to make it look a little nicer. Did a bunch of grilling on the new FlyBQ that I bought and before I knew it, the staycation was over. I doubt that my two sons Kermie and Kermie will be envied at school but sometimes that’s the way things go.
Here’s a photo that I took on my staycation and the pond scum that I cleaned up.
